Method
- Fill a tall glass three-quarters full with ice cubes.
- Add 2 tablespoons granulated sugar and 8 to 10 fresh mint leaves, tearing the leaves gently by hand.
- Gently muddle the mint and sugar for 10–15 seconds to release the mint oils without shredding the leaves.
- Squeeze the juice from one lime wedge over the muddled mixture.
- Drop the second lime wedge into the glass for added flavor and garnish.
- Stir the mixture for about 20 seconds until the sugar granules dissolve.
- Slowly pour 4 ounces of chilled soda water into the glass, filling it nearly to the brim.
- Give the drink a gentle final stir, taste, and adjust with more lime juice or soda water if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
Use the coldest soda water available and avoid over-muddling to keep flavors bright and avoid bitterness.
