Ingredients

Main
  • 2 pounds ground beef 80/20 blend
  • 1 packet taco seasoning store-bought or homemade
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 cans crescent roll dough 8 ounces each
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes seeds removed
  • 1/2 cup diced red onion
  • 1 can black olives 6 ounces, sliced
  • Sour cream for serving
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • Cutting board and sharp knife
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Pizza stone or round baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • wooden spoon or spatula
  • Small mixing bowl for toppings
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon as it cooks for about 6 to 8 minutes.
  2. Drain off excess fat, then add the taco seasoning and 1/4 cup water. Stir well and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and line a round baking sheet or pizza stone with parchment paper.
  4. Open both cans of crescent roll dough and unroll them completely, but do not separate the triangles along the perforations. Arrange the dough pieces in a large circle on your parchment paper.
  5. Spread the cooked seasoned beef evenly over the crescent dough ring, leaving about 2 inches at the outer edge uncovered. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the beef layer.
  6. Combine the diced tomatoes, red onion, and black olives in a small bowl, then scatter this mixture evenly over the cheese and beef.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese over all the toppings.
  8. Transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Remove the Taco Ring from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
