Method
- In a small bowl, combine honey (or agave), water, salt, and black pepper; stir until completely smooth, about 30 seconds.
- Lightly toast the two bread slices for about 1 minute per side in a toaster or dry skillet over medium heat.
- Spread a thin layer of butter or mayo on the toasted sides of both bread slices.
- On the bottom slice, layer cheese, deli meat, lettuce, tomato, and red onion in that order.
- Place the top slice of bread over the fillings and press gently to secure the sandwich.
- Using a pastry brush, paint a thin, even coat of glaze over the top bread slice, working from the center outward.
- Carefully brush glaze onto the exposed edges and sides of the sandwich for a complete glossy finish.
- For extra shine, wait 30 seconds and apply a second light coat; let the glaze set for 1 minute before serving.
Notes
Apply the glaze just before serving for maximum shine. A light coat prevents the bread from becoming soggy while adding subtle sweetness.
