Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Combine the dry cake mix and 1/4 cup water in a mixing bowl; stir just until a thick, lumpy batter forms.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking dish, covering the bottom without overfilling.
- Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the batter.
- Sprinkle 1/2 cup of the chopped pecans over the buttered batter.
- Slowly pour the caramel topping over the pecans and batter without stirring.
- Top with the remaining 1/2 cup chopped pecans for crunch and presentation.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the center jiggles just slightly when the pan is gently shaken.
- Cool on a rack for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving warm or at room temperature.
Notes
For deeper flavor, toast pecans for 5 minutes at 325°F before adding. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
