Method
- Juice the limes until you have exactly 1 cup of fresh lime juice, straining out pulp if desired.
- If needed, prepare simple syrup by dissolving equal parts sugar and hot water; cool completely.
- Pour lime juice and cooled simple syrup into a glass pitcher and whisk to combine.
- Add the fresh orange juice and stir well.
- Stir in triple sec or Cointreau, if using, until fully incorporated.
- Whisk in the sea salt until it dissolves completely.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness with additional simple syrup or lime juice as needed.
- Transfer the finished mix to a clean glass bottle, seal, and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks. Shake before each use.
Notes
Use 1.5 ounces of mix with 2 ounces of tequila for a classic margarita. For a non-alcoholic refresher, combine the mix with sparkling water over ice.
