  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 packet 1 ounce dry onion soup mix
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
  • Salt to taste
  • Tortilla chips crackers, or bread for serving

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook for 8–10 minutes, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until no pink remains.
  3. Drain excess fat, leaving a small amount for flavor.
  4. Transfer cooked beef to a large mixing bowl. Add softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, sour cream, and milk.
  5. Sprinkle in onion soup mix, garlic powder, black pepper, cayenne (if using), and salt to taste. Stir until the mixture is smooth and evenly combined.
  6. Spread the mixture evenly into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  7. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, until the edges are bubbly and the center is hot.
  8. Remove from oven and let rest for 3–5 minutes before serving.
  9. Serve warm with tortilla chips, crackers, or bread.

Notes

Keep the dip warm for parties by transferring it to a slow cooker set on low after baking.
